How to optimize the “barbell-athlete unit” for a better, stronger deadlift

You wouldn’t tow a car out of a ditch without first taking the slack out of the tow strap, the same concept applies to the deadlift.

As such, the single most important thing in the powerlifting deadlift (after you’ve learned to hip hinge), is the “wedge”. This allows us to pull the slack out of the “barbell-athlete unit” and optimize force transfer (lift more weight)
