How Being Wrong Makes For Good Powerlifting Training

sometimes the best thing you can do in your training is not be right AND learn from it.

A while ago, I told a prospective client that if I had all the answers right  the first time I tried something that I’d switch my entire business model over to selling templates instead of customized coaching because there would be no need to trial new ideas in training anymore.

That got me thinking: a shitty approach to powerlifting training (or any process for that matter) does NOT mean you aren’t making mistakes… in fact, it often means you’re making LOTS of mistakes.

The key factor to those mistakes being acceptable?

Paying attention to the data and adjusting your future decisions and training methods based on that information.

Bad powerlifting training means making mistakes and being asleep at the wheel – continuing to use methods that don’t work in spite of lackluster results

Great powerlifting training means making mistakes all the same, but paying attention to what works and most importantly what DOESN’T in order to adjust your process and optimize on results.

Knowing what doesn’t work is JUST as valuable in the long run as knowing what does work.

If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not taking enough chances to optimize your training and build the biggest total possible.
